Curating the Clinical Genome

10–12 July 2023

Wellcome Genome Campus, UK and Virtual

Summary

We are pleased to announce the 7th Curating the Clinical Genome conference, which aims to bring together the international clinical genomics and biodata communities to discuss best practices for the clinical use of genomic data, including variant interpretation, clinical utility, and the consensus generation of curated knowledge.

This event will be of interest to a wide group of medical genomics researchers, clinicians and clinical scientists practicing genomic medicine, companies developing solutions for clinical genomics and data scientists interested in genomic data sharing.

The sharing of genetic data from clinical diagnostic testing and the generation of consensus-curated knowledge is vital for delivering on the promise of genomic medicine. The growing recognition of the power of global data sharing has led to the establishment of major initiatives, such as ClinGen and DECIPHER consortia, which have spearheaded this conference series. The focus of this year’s meeting is to bring together these and other national/regional initiatives to develop common standards (guidelines and resources), share best practices, integrate the recent research findings and help drive patient benefits.

This conference will be a hybrid meeting – with onsite or virtual attendance. The programme will also include short oral presentations selected from abstracts, posters, poster pitches and a panel discussion on iterative reporting where more panel members will be invited from the registered delegates.

‘Clinical Application of MAVE Data’ workshop

After the conference, on the afternoon of 12 July, a workshop will be jointly hosted by the scientific committee of the Curating the Clinical Genome and the Mutational Scanning Symposium to discuss the potential use of mutational scanning data in variant classification in clinical practice. The registration for this face-to-face workshop will be taken separately from the conference, and the number of participants will be limited.

Programme

The conference will start at approximately 12.00 on Monday, 10 July and close at approximately 13.30 on Wednesday, 12 July 2022. All times are in BST. See the time where you are here.

Discussions will focus on a variety of exciting topics, including:

  • Genetic architecture and locus heterogeneity
  • Genetic pleiotropy and allelic heterogeneity
  • Non-coding variation and polygenic risk scores
  • Computational approaches
  • Functional assays
  • Variant classification recommendations
  • Iterative reporting (panel discussion)

Clinical Application of MAVE Data workshop (12 July 2023)

The post-conference workshop will start at approximately 14.00 and close at 18.30 on Wednesday, 12 July 2023. See the workshop programme here.

Additional funding opportunities
Visit our support page for additional financial support currently available.

Abstracts

Abstract deadline: 16 May 2023

We welcome abstracts from all areas relevant to the main themes of the meeting, for both oral and poster presentations. Several oral presentations will be chosen from the abstracts submitted. Presenters of oral presentations are expected to be onsite for the duration of the conference, whereas those presenting posters can do so in person or virtually.

Abstracts will only be considered from registered delegates. Please use our online abstract submission system and follow the instructions given to ensure your abstract is submitted correctly. All abstracts must be submitted by the deadline. You can make changes to your submitted abstract before of the deadline by log into your account and following the instructions

If you have already completed your registration and subsequently wish to submit an abstract, or wish to submit a second abstract, please follow these instructions.

The scientific programme committee will assess your abstract after the deadline has passed and you will be notified whether you have been selected to present an oral or poster presentation.

Poster boards onsite will accommodate 118 cm high by 84 cm wide (A0- portrait) of printed material. Accepted abstracts will appear in the conference programme book; poster board numbers will be allocated at the conference.
