Accelerating Translation of Biodata to Impact Workshop
22–24 September 2026
Wellcome Genome Campus, UK
Summary
Accelerating Translation of Biodata to Impact is a workshop set to explore how biological data (health data and/or research data) can be translated to create value across open, hybrid, and fully commercial models. We are assembling ~40 senior leaders and experienced practitioners from industry, academia, policy, investment and funders to share opinions and experience on the many paths from data to impact in the life sciences. Through expert talks, panels and peer discussions, we will reflect on the full spectrum of the data-to-product and impact routes from open science to techbio business opportunities.
Key topics will include how do we balance open data access with sustainability of data generation and sharing platforms? How can the community build & embed principles of equity in the access and use of data for good? What are the business models enabled by a data first approach? How to support a dynamic business ecosystem that will deliver impactful products and services from data? What are the partnering opportunities around data emerging from new technology and the advent of predictive biology?
Together, we will tackle critical questions:
- How do we balance open data access with the long-term sustainability of data platforms?
- How can equity be embedded in the governance and use of data for global good?
- What business models emerge from a data-first approach?
- How do we build an ecosystem that turns biological data into impactful products and services?
- What new partnership models are emerging in the era of predictive biology?
